Developmental & Behavioral Specialists (DBS) is an applied behavior analysis company dedicated to early intervention for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, Down syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and other behavioral conditions. Founded in 2017 by Helina Pierre, a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, DBS is committed to providing high-quality therapy services.
Our approach is rooted in applied behavior analysis (ABA), a scientifically validated method for understanding behavior and its environmental influences. We meticulously observe the events occurring before and after a behavior to determine its underlying causes. This allows us to implement targeted, evidence-based interventions tailored to each child’s needs.
At DBS, your child will benefit from 1:1 individualized services based on the results of their initial assessment conducted at our center in Ocoee, FL. Our treatment plans emphasize functional communication training and teaching alternative behaviors to enhance appropriate actions while reducing challenging ones. Additionally, we address skill acquisition goals such as verbal communication, social interactions, pre-academic skills, and self-care/daily living skills, including toilet training.
We offer services both in-center and in natural environments, including the home, schools, and the community. Our comprehensive services encompass behavioral consultation, 1:1 intervention, and caregiver training, ensuring that the skills learned are applied independently in various settings. As your child progresses and meets the mastery criteria outlined in their treatment plan, ABA therapy services will be gradually reduced and transitioned to promote a smooth shift to the least restrictive environment possible.
